It’s that time of year again – the Christmas parties are done, the presents have been un-wrapped, the cookie and eggnog recipes filed away for another eleven months, and now you scratch your head in wonder as to where to put the new framed cross-stitch from Aunt Sally and who to re-gift the ornament tree to next year. It’s then that you make all kind of unrealistic promises to yourself about the year ahead. The dreaded New Year’s Resolutions!
I’m going to take a realistic and practical approach to the resolutions process this year. Let’s face it – I probably won’t work-out at the gym everyday, or save any more money than I already do, and I definitely won’t drink any less in 2012. As a matter of fact, my resolution for 2012 involves drinking more!
My big, all encompassing resolution for 2012 is to continue my wine education. This is bound to involve a lot of hands-on research! It could involve more leaps of faith, as I venture beyond my comfort zone, and order wines on-line to experience new varietals and discover new wine regions and sample wines from small-production-can’t-be-bought-in-stores wineries. It will involve better record keeping of where I’ve been and what I tried and how I experienced it all, both written and photographically (which, by the way, leads into my second resolution, and that is to enhance my photography skills).
Let’s take this step together! Join me virtually on my quest to learn more. I’ll be sure to blog weekly about what I’ve learned and where I’ve been. Ask me questions. Give me “assignments.” What do you want to know more about? Give me suggestions about places to check out and wines to sample. One sip at a time!
